Koh Samui is a tropical gem located in the warm blue waters off the country's south-eastern seaboard. It is the Kingdom's second largest island after Phuket. Relatively unknown for years, this sun lover's paradise has now attained international standards of service and accommodation. Fortunately, it has also earned a reputation for retaining its friendly image as well as natural environment. |
Chaweng Beach is THE place to be a part of the action on Koh Samui. Easily the most populated area on the island, Chaweng Beach is a bustling mix of local vendors, European tourists, hotel loiterers, birds, and breathtaking shades of blue. There's a clear reason why this beach was the one to take off as the population center on Samui. Chaweng Beach lying on Koh Samui at the east coast is the most developed beach and becomes one of the laid- back Thailand’s beach destinations. Chaweng Beach can be therefore mouthed as one of the most touristic and liveliest beach areas on Koh Samui. However, due to the fact that it is the most populated area on Koh Samui, the beach is quite dirty and the ocean water in this part of the sea is often stale. During the months of January through April, the sea can get rough on some days, and the waves are high. The central part of the beach is a bit more crowded than the quieter northern part.

| Walk for a few hundred meters in either direction, and you'll pass vendors selling food or necklaces, young Thai men enticing you for a 30-minute jet-ski rental, free SCUBA lesson offerings, topless European women, or low-flying frisbees. Chaweng is not the place to lay out on your towel if you want to forget that anyone else exists in this world, but if you want to see a diverse mix of people all cohabitating on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, then take a long walk. |

For your stay in Koh Samui, we would not advise on staying at the resorts on the Chaweng Beach but to stay on those other resorts on other less populated beaches. One of those that come highly recommended is the Sala Samui Resort and Spa on the Choengmon Beach, a stunning new deluxe pool villa resort, featuring private swimming pools in 53 out of 69 total villas and suites. The resort location is perfect - right on a beautiful quiet beach that accommodates half a dozen bar/restaurants selling good cheap food. The whole beach is lit up with torches during the evening making it a great place to stroll. If you would like to get to Chaweng Beach, it is only a short 15 minutes drive away. It is indeed a beautiful beach resort that offers all guest (especially couples who strives to achieve all-over-an!) total privacy.

For the die hard that still prefers staying right at Chaweng Beach, the Amari Palm Reef Resort is recommended. A beach resort located at the end of the Chaweng Beach, it is an attractive property consisting of a cluster of Thai style buildings and bungalows.
